Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, Steph and I decided to cash in a few free nights she earned over the past year with her extensive traveling for work. Our original destination was the beautiful and quiet Puerto Rico - Steph had been planning the trip for months and we even got some help from our friend Yan who was born and raised in Puerto Rico. We were extremely excited about the trip until about 1 week before we were due to leave, when after checking several weather sources at least a dozen times it became apparent that we would see nothing but rain for the whole time we would be there. Time for Plan B. What was Plan B you ask? We didnt have one, but with Steph taken care of travel plans, you dont need one - she just seems to have a gift for making things happen on the fly.

Cancun, Mexico!
Our flight was painless, a little under 4 hours. We arrived in our shorts to sunny 85 degree weather. From the moment we got off the plane, we were hounded by locals trying to sell us a bunch of crap we didnt need (dont worry, this continued throughout the whole trip) - but thats enough about that. Just ignore them, maybe yell at them in english a few times, and then they'll leave you alone. But i digress - We arrived at our first hotel Friday afternoon, the Le Meridien Resort and Spa (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/lemeridien/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1877) which is part of the Starwood Alliance. Check it out, absolutely ridiculous. Cascading pools, breathtaking views, and awesome spa. The people were extremely friendly (due in no small part to steph being Platinum im sure) and the rooms were excellent. The last few nights we stayed at the somewhat scaled down, but still enjoyable, Westin. During our time, we enjoyed several nights on the town in which we got Tequilla poured down our throats by the bartenders and enjoyed a variety of Mexican beers and drinks. From Carlos and Charlies to Senor Frogs, Cancun is quite a party city. During several of the rainy days, we took the bus into the Market and spent way to much on souviners that we do not need. We even stopped into WalMart Mexico! The food was great, the water was beautiful, and the trip rocked.
Definetely need to plan a group trip!
See ya - DSpahr
